DER GROSSE AUSBRUCH / THE GREAT ESCAPE

Der Text in Der große Ausbruch beschreibt die Transformation des Protagonisten Vinzent Zettel. Die Kunst und das Leben führen Zettel aus seinem normalen Dasein, dass er zunehmend wie ein Gefängnis empfindet, hin zu innerer Freiheit. Dieser spektakuläre große Ausbruch und Zettels Ankommen in einem neuen, inneren Land wird begleitet von Bildern und Skulpturen des bildenden Künstlers Briant Rokyta, fotografiert wurden die Werke von Renée Kellner. Das Buch hat zwei Anfänge, also auch zwei Cover: Es beginnt auf der einen Seite mit deutschen Text und Skulpturen. Dreht man das Buch auf den Kopf, fängt man auf der anderen Seite - beim zweiten Cover - mit der englischen Version und Malereien an. In der Mitte des Buches begegnen sich die beiden Enden.

„Die dunklen Wolken nahen majestätisch wie Schiffe in der lichtgrünen Luft. Der Wind wird golden in der untergehenden Sonne, er spielt mit Zettels wenigen, noch verbliebenen Haare. Er tanzt auf Zettels kargen Tisch. Zettels innere Stimmen ziehen davon und - oh Mann - die Sonne leuchtet aus dem Land heraus, sein Atem strahlt, er durchschreitet Räume, die seltsam leer sind, ohne den Lärm der inneren Stimmen. Er hat das Gefühl, als wären es Räume eines Tempels. Egal worauf dein Blick fällt, du schaust immer in einen Tempel.“

The text of The Great Escape describes the transformation of the protagonist Vincent Zettel. Art and life conspire to lead Zettel beyond his normal existence – an existence that he increasingly feels is like a prison – towards an inner freedom. The dramatic Great Escape, and the arrival of Zettel in a new, interior land, is accompanied by pictures and sculptures by the visual artist Briant Rokyta. is book has two beginnings and also two covers. On one side you start with the german version accompanied with sculptures and on the other side - with the second cover - you enjoy the english version together with paintings. The center of the book is the meeting point of the endings.

With unbound life blazing within him, like Prometheus, his long gaze sweeps the horizons. Majestic clouds move, like stately galleons, across a sky tinted with sea-green. The playful wind tousles his now sparse hair, performs a coquettish dance on his meagre table, and scampers away. As his inner voices depart he watches the setting of the sun and listens to the breath entering and leaving his body.
